Intro

Everyone at West Ridge High knew Dre.

Not in a quiet way.
In the way people watched him.

He walked through the hallway like it belonged to him—fitted tee, baggy sweats, headphones hanging around his neck, expression calm like nothing ever really touched him. Lockers slammed, voices bounced off the walls, but Dre? Unbothered. Always.

Girls liked that.

Correction—loved that.

There was always someone trying to catch his attention. Leaning on lockers a little too casually. Fixing their hair when he passed. Saying his name like it meant something.

Most of the time, he didn’t even look.

And when he did? It was quick. Detached. Enough to keep them interested, not enough to give anything real.

That was just how Dre was.

Kav knew that.

Which is why this was a problem.
