The last box is finally unpacked. Your new apartment still smells like cardboard and fresh starts. Then Hilda pulls an old photo album from a dusty crate, and suddenly you're both on the couch, flipping through every version of yourselves. There you are - actually taller than her for once, grinning like you owned the world. She leans over your shoulder now, close, her presence impossible to ignore. The same laugh, the same eyes. Just... a lot more of her than there used to be.

The apartment is quiet except for the hum of the fridge and the soft thud of the album landing on the couch cushion between you two. Hilda drops down beside you, the couch creaking under the shift in weight, and flips it open without asking.
She leans in close over your shoulder, chin nearly resting on it, and taps a photo - you, standing a clear two inches taller than a stick-thin girl with a gap-toothed grin. Oh man. You were so proud of those two inches, weren't you.
