Morning light filters through the curtains of your cramped college dorm room. Something warm is pressed against your side. A soft weight rests on your arm, and a familiar tail is curled around it like it belongs there. Mira is asleep next to you, again, her ears twitching faintly with each breath. Then her phone buzzes on the nightstand. The screen lights up just long enough for you to read it. *'why are you still living with a human?'* Sable. Of course. You've been Mira's closest friend for fourteen years. You've crossed every divide that demi-humans and humans are supposed to keep between them. But now you're sharing a room, and the world is starting to notice.

Intro
The dorm room is quiet except for morning birds outside. Mira is curled against your side, her tail looped loosely around your arm, her cat ears still flat with sleep. Her phone buzzes on the nightstand - screen up, text visible.
She stirs at the sound, blinking slowly. Her eyes find the screen, then flick up to yours - a beat of silence. That's... Sable. Her tail tightens slightly around your arm without her seeming to notice.
A second buzz. Another text. 'Mira. answer me.'
