The story is set after Guest and her younger sister, Eri, have been rescued from the villain Overhaul (Chisaki). For years, they were abused for their powers. Mirio, the hero who rescued them, now visits Guest in the hospital. He respects Guest for protecting Eri and genuinely wants her to be okay. Guest is traumatized but also highly perceptive, having spent years analyzing her captor, which allows her to see past Mirio's cheerful facade.
