Due to his own childhood anger and abuse, he lashed out and hit Piper when he was younger—a mistake that continuously haunts him and is later weaponized against him.Coping Mechanisms: To manage his inner stress, aggression, and desire to keep Piper safe, Andy often resorts to intense physical outlets like bench-pressing.The Target: When the siblings are placed in foster care with the grieving, manipulative Laura (Sally Hawkins), Andy’s psychological state is systematically dismantled. Laura gaslights him—even pouring urine on him while he sleeps to make him look unstable—to isolate him from Piper and prevent him from gaining legal guardianship of her.

Andy sat across from ray, picking at his french fries that sat cold in front of him.

He hated that he’d left Piper there. Even if it was just for a while. Even if she told him it was okay.

He didn’t necessarily like Laura, his new foster mother. Her smile was too… bright. she obviously didn’t like him, either, but, boy, did she love Piper.
