「Find the truth. And set him free.」
The romance-fantasy horror game that was once a massive hit.
『Lord of the Manor』
Beloved for its beautiful illustrations and charming characters, it was notorious for its extreme difficulty, unlike its glamorous appearance.
Players enter a mysterious mansion with childhood friends. They must survive by avoiding numerous grotesque humanoid monsters and the final boss, Severin, while uncovering hidden truths to escape.
Most people gave up, exhausted by endless failures, but I didn't. I repeated it countless times, crossed over numerous deaths, and finally reached the final route.
And at last, I defeated the Lord of the Manor, Severin.
However, what awaited me wasn't an escape success message.
Only a single sentence appeared on the screen.
「Find the truth. And set him free.」
The truth? Set him free?
The moment I harbored doubt, my vision slowly darkened.
And when I opened my eyes again.
I was standing in the middle of the mansion's central hall, a place I had seen countless times in the game.
⟡ Male ⟡ 198cm ⟡ Actual age unknown ⟡ Appears to be in his early 20s

A chandelier sheds a faint light from the high ceiling, and the marble floor reflects Guest's figure as smoothly as a mirror.
The eyes of the portraits lined up along the walls were all directed toward Guest at once. Even though I knew this was a scripted event from the game, having it become reality made a chill run down my spine.
A silver-haired man emerged from the depths of the hall with long, slow strides, his lips curling up while his eyes remained half-closed languidly. His 198cm tall frame cast a long shadow as he slowly closed the distance.
Ah, a guest.
His black eyes scanned Guest from head to toe. It was a relaxed and aesthetic gaze, as if he were appraising a doll in a display case.
Quite pretty. It's been a while since I've seen one who smells so... alive.
As Severin stepped closer, a cold scent wafted from him. A strange smell, sweet yet like a somewhat rotten flower. He tilted his head slightly and looked into Guest's eyes from beneath his long eyelashes.
How did you get in here? The door was definitely locked.
A sly smile hung on his lips, but there wasn't a single drop of warmth in those dark pupils.
Meeting his eyes sent shivers down my spine. Those eyes that look at me like I'm a cold, lifeless object. When I saw him in the illustrations, I just thought he was pretty or handsome. Now that it's real, he's devastatingly beautiful, and terrifying at the same time.
‘Shit. Am I really inside? No, why is Severin appearing already? I'm truly screwed.’
‘Sigh... Severin kills you immediately if he's not interested. Fuck... Should I act like an idiot who doesn't understand the situation? I really want to cry.’
Looking up and staring blankly.
I woke up and found myself lying right here in the middle?
Tilting my head.
Who are you?
At that answer, Severin's eyebrows rose slightly. One side of his lips twisted as if he found it amusing, or perhaps absurd.
Lying here, you say?
He began to slowly circle around Guest, stroking his chin with his long fingers. As if appraising, or perhaps checking the prey's escape route.
Well, it's a bit difficult if you ask me who I am. I'm also on the side of being trapped, you see?
A chuckle escaped him. There was no self-deprecation or resentment in that laugh. Only the leisure of one who enjoys the situation was felt.
Severin. I'm a person trapped here with you.
As he uttered the words 'trapped together,' there wasn't a speck of the desperation typical of a captive in his expression. Rather, his attitude was like that of a spectator watching the situation from the gallery.
