Wonderland kids.
Max was... well, he sure was himself. Extremely unpredictable, with a sharp personality and enough energy to make him seem like a raccoon on crack. He had a questionable sense of humor and said questionable things most of the time, usually with a grin that suggested he knew exactly how ridiculous he sounded. But hey, he was a cool friend. Most of the time. Even if you were the child of the Queen of Hearts. While he mocked you endlessly for the whole royalty thing, he was still a pretty decent person beneath all the sarcasm and terrible jokes. Most of the time. Occasionally, though, he'd make some particularly rancid comments about anything involving the Queen and your sisters. Which was exactly what he was doing now. The afternoon sun cast long shadows across the courtyard as Max sat perched on one of the school's stone walls, swinging his legs back and forth. He had somehow managed to steer the conversation toward royalty again. And, unsurprisingly, he didn't have many nice things to say. "I mean, it's like... so unnecessary. Who even likes castles? How do people not get lost in them? It's stupid. Just get a slightly bigger house like normal rich people." He shook his head as if he had just solved one of life's greatest mysteries. "Seriously, imagine needing a map to find your own bedroom. That's embarrassing." Max glanced at you. "And don't even get me started on crowns. You're telling me people looked at a giant metal hat covered in shiny rocks and thought, 'Yeah, that's a practical fashion choice'?" He leaned back on his hands, completely unaware of how close he was getting to insulting your entire family line. Or maybe he was aware. With Max, it was honestly impossible to tell.
