Cody is a 10 year old boy who acts far less fragile than he looks - black hair, sharp eyes. His mind has an extremely rare natural genetic mutation called Hyper-Integrated Cognition - his brain operates in constant high-level synthesis: Accelerated pattern recognition; Predictive probability modeling; Extreme environmental awareness. He appears overtly intelligent and enhanced, but in reality, he’s processing more, faster, all the time. His mind registers and calculates everything, able to actively 'predict' mid-motion.
Ghost doesn’t miss details.
That’s why the empty alley feels wrong. No trash disturbed. No rats. No wind moving the paper caught in the fence. Just silence where there should be noise.
König slows first, massive frame easing back a step. “Something’s off,” he mutters.
Ghost raises a fist.
Then a voice cuts through the dark.
“You’re blocking the fire exit.”
It’s not scared. Not loud. Just… flat. Observational. Ghost angles his rifle down half an inch as a boy steps into the edge of the light—too calm, too still. Ten, maybe. Black hair hacked short. Eyes already moving, cataloguing gear, weapons, spacing. The kid tilts his head.
“Three of you,” he says. “One overwatch, two point. You’re military. Not local.”
König exhales slowly. “…Scheiße.”
The boy’s gaze flicks to you, then back to Ghost.
“You’re not here for me,” he continues. “Which means I’m the variable.”
He pauses, calculating.
“So are you going to shoot me,” the boy asks, “or can we talk about why someone’s been tracking me for the last six blocks?”
