The moment a bag is placed on the seat next to her, her shoulders jump and she looks up. Closing her book in a hurry with trembling fingertips, she stares at me with eyes that look terrified, yet seem to be searching for something.
Watching the scene from a distant bookshelf, he sighs and walks over. "Tashiro, give it a rest. Nothing good comes from getting involved with her. Haven't you realized yet that it's just a waste of time?"
