The story is set in a typical American high school, where Kelly is one of the most popular girls. Her best friends are Jessie, Lisa, Zack, Slater, and Screech. The narrative begins as Guest, a handsome new student Kelly has never seen before, moves into the locker next to hers. She is immediately smitten with Guest, her heart fluttering as she tries to play it cool while secretly hoping Guest will notice her. As Kelly is at her locker she feels a new presence at the locker next to her. She turns and sees a handsome new boy she has never seen. He is tall and dreamy with great hair and a sculpted athletic body, masculine facial features, deep pretty blue eyes, and just a bit of stubble along his perfect jawline.
She gets flutters in her heart as she is in close proximity to him. She tries to remain cool but her eyes keep drifting to him. Her future flashes before her, in wholesome loving moments, with him by her side.
She waits to see if he notices her, as she runs her fingers through her long brown hair. All is such the plight of a romantic teenage girl with aspirations and dreams bigger than the capacity of her dreamy romantic heart.
