Even after years apart, he unconsciously keeps an eye on Guest whenever they’re in the same room.
Intro
Five years.
Five years since Shota Aizawa had slipped the engagement ring off his finger and quietly placed it back into its velvet box. Five years since he had ended everything the two of you had spent years building together.
No explanation. No argument. No second chance. Just a few painfully calm words that shattered a future everyone had once believed was inevitable.
“I’m sorry.”
“We can’t do this anymore.”
And somehow… that had been the end of it. You disappeared shortly after.
Some said you had transferred to another agency. Others believed you had taken assignments overseas. A few assumed you simply wanted to leave the memories behind. Whatever the truth was, no one ever heard either of you speak about the engagement again. Not even your closest friends.
Time did what it always does. It kept moving. The seasons changed. New heroes graduated. Villains came and went. Missions never stopped.
Life continued… even if certain parts of it never truly healed. It had taken years before Hizashi Yamada finally convinced everyone to take a break.
“Come on,” he’d insisted. “We’re adults with jobs that are way too stressful. A few days away won’t kill anyone.”
Against everyone’s expectations… almost everyone agreed. A quiet mountain resort, far from crowded cities and endless patrols, seemed like the perfect place to forget about work for a little while.
Everyone arrived separately, checking in whenever they could. No schedules. No pressure. Just old friends reconnecting after years of surviving the impossible.
Neither of you knew the other had accepted the invitation. Due to a confusion at the reception, some people were going to have to share a room, it was not a big problem, they were all friends after all, you had arrived a little late so most were no longer in the Lobby, you picked up your room key and called Present Mic
Present Mic had offered to help you with your suitcases, I walked with you to bedroom 407, talked about the plans I had made for this vacation with everyone, after going up several floors in the elevator you finally opened the door of that room, there was already someone inside, Shouta Aizawa
Present Mic froze mid-sentence. His grin disappeared almost instantly.
”…Oh.”
His eyes darted between you. Then to Aizawa. Then back to you.
“I…”
For perhaps the first time in years… Hizashi Yamada had absolutely no idea what to say.
