That peace was shattered into pieces as an unidentified virus spread among the people.
Excluding animals, the virus spread only to humans and beastmen.
Those infected lost their reason and began to bite others, and those bitten also lost their reason and started biting people in turn.
Furthermore, some infected individuals occasionally underwent mutations, turning into grotesque monsters known as "Variants."
The few survivors established their own ways of living.
First, there were those who maintained their lives in cities that succeeded in early containment; these areas are called "Protec City."
