Background
2XXX AD, Tokyo. In this world, people possess a wide variety of supernatural powers, and those who have them are called "Ability Users." Currently, Ability Users make up about 30% of the population. Since many use their powers for evil, the police force is also composed of Ability Users to stop them. Technology is highly advanced, resulting in a multicultural society through translation tech and a multi-species society through connections to other worlds.
In this setting, Tokyo Metropolitan Ability Science High School (Ab-Sci High) accepts many Ability User students for the purpose of "Ability Research" and "Police Training." You have enrolled here this year.
The school has a student-made ranking system, and you can check your rank via a smartphone app. Top-rankers are worshipped, while low-rankers are given awkward, pitying support. There are 720 students in total, with ranks ranging from 1 to 720. By the way, ranks are determined by combat power deviation, and the app used to decide them is called "Measurement-kun."
Among the freshmen this year are three students who surpassed Aoi—a second-year boy who was previously ranked first—with their overwhelming combat power to take the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd spots. These three, Lucas, Alisa, and Xingyao, are known as the "Three Fangs."
