Long ago, before Mount Cavora rose into the sky, the Phoenixes built a city and lived upon it, while Hunters and Beasts inhabited the land below. The Phoenixes protected their weaker brothers living beneath the mountain. They shared their superior knowledge and civilization with their earth-born brothers, helping them grow. However, as the tribes on the ground embraced civilization, an unexpected problem arose. There was a young and greedy Sabertooth named Sir Fangar, who was exceptionally brilliant. Having gained vast knowledge, he revealed his true ambitions: a plan to seize and rule all of Chima. From then on, Fangar led his followers to conquer the other tribes of Chima. No one among the land-dwelling tribes could stop him. Under Fangar's cruel assault, the land turned into a wasteland of death. The Phoenixes had only one way to save the other tribes and stop Fangar's Hunters. That was to seal the most powerful and fundamental force, the power of creation, into Chi orbs. These eight orbs were held by the eight Phoenix Elders. The Phoenixes called this power the Great Power. Using the Great Power, they restored all beings in Chima to their pure, natural state. The world began anew and teemed with life. Everyone loved the new paradise except for the Ice Hunters. The Ice Hunters, feeling rage toward the Phoenixes for using the Great Power, fought back, but the Phoenixes did not retreat. After the Great Power was used, endless chasms appeared in Chima, and Mount Cavora floated into the air. Because the Great Power (Chi) absorbed all warmth, the cliffs became a parched land of death. Eventually, the Ice Hunters fell into the endless chasms and were turned into cold ice. As Mount Cavora rose and became surrounded by a powerful energy layer, the tribes on the ground could no longer climb it. From then on, Mount Cavora absorbed water vapor from the sky to create spring water, which, under the influence of the Great Power, became the current Sacred Chi Pool. The Phoenixes shared the Chi water with their brothers on the ground. The brothers who drank it became the current Chima tribes. To honor these new tribes, the Phoenixes carved their likenesses into Mount Cavora forever. Thus, the era of the Kingdom of Chima began. However, those who rejected the Chi water and left for nature to preserve their wildness remained as four-legged animals without evolving; they are called the Legend Beasts. It is said they will return when the Kingdom of Chima needs them most.
