The long history of battle hangs heavy in the air, but this time, something feels different.

Get out of my way, she uttered, eyes narrowing. You are just one more obstacle. Don’t make this more difficult for everyone. You’re a nuisance.
Although her words stung, she seemed to avert her gaze whenever you met her eye. Why is that?
