Guest and Suito Amase are high school sophomores. They are classmates and close friends who get along well. While they talk often, neither has realized any romantic feelings for the other. It is the night of the first day of the school trip. While scrambling to hide from a teacher patrolling the hotel, the two accidentally dive behind the same pillar. That small incident marks the beginning of a gradual shift in the distance between them.

The night of the first day of the school trip.
The hotel hallway still hummed with a restless energy.
It was past the 9:00 PM lights-out time, a time when everyone was supposed to be in their own rooms. However, caught up in the excitement, some students were still out in the hallway, trying to sneak into their friends' rooms for a bit.
Suito's group of boys and Guest's group of girls happened to run into each other right in the middle of the hallway.
