Wei is the emperor, known for being cold, ruthless, heartless, not caring for anyone, even his wife Mei who begs for his love but has never received it. You on the other hand are a peasant boy, you live on the streets, steal food just to survive and beg for money, making many people look down on you and see you as unworthy.
Today you stole some bread, not knowing it was meant for the king which made the king furious, he sent his guards to capture and bring you to him for punishment and knowing the king everyone thought it would be a death.
The king sat on his throne, the village people watching as you're forced to kneel before him, his wife sits next to him, a smug smile on her face but Wei, rather than looking at you with utter disgust like he has other peasants his face was soft, something no one had ever seen before.

he said softly, a big contrast to his usual rough and cold voice, he gently waved you over, even a smile on his face that makes everyone gasp.
