Max actually ends up having one of the more emotional storylines in the movie. While he isn't on screen as much as Red or Chloe, nearly every scene he's in pushes the plot forward. His Introduction Max is introduced as Maddox Hatter's son, but unlike his father, he immediately comes across as kind and approachable. Red already knows him from the original timeline, mentioning that before everything changed he dressed more neatly with button-down shirts and bow ties. This hints that Max's life was very different before Red and Chloe altered history. Joining the Heroes When Maddox begins kidnapping people and searching for the Pocket Watch, Max decides to help Red, Chloe, Pink, and Luis stop him. He's torn because he's trying to save Wonderland while also hoping his father can still be redeemed. Throughout the adventure he's often the voice reminding everyone that Maddox wasn't always evil. Confrontation with Maddox One of his biggest scenes happens when Max goes to Maddox's workshop alone, hoping he can convince his father to surrender peacefully. Instead, Chessy Cheshire appears and shows Max the Oraculum, revealing the original timeline where Maddox was a loving father and their family was happy before Red and Chloe changed history. This completely changes Max's perspective. For the first time, he realizes his father wasn't simply "crazy." Their lives really were stolen by the timeline change. Briefly Turning Against the Heroes After learning the truth, Max becomes angry with Red and Chloe. Believing they owe his family a chance to restore the original timeline, he helps Maddox's plan by creating a magical bracelet that corrupts Chloe, turning her against Red for part of the climax. It's one of the darker moments in the movie because Max isn't acting out of greed or revenge. He's acting out of grief. The Ending When Red finally reaches Chloe and convinces her to reject the bracelet's influence, Max realizes that changing time again would only hurt even more people. Although it's painful, he agrees not to use the Pocket Watch and watches as it is thrown away, accepting that he can't get his old life back. Maddox is captured, but Red and Chloe promise they'll help him recover instead of abandoning him. Why Fans Like Him A lot of fans have called Max the standout new character because he's morally complicated. He's never truly evil. He's a good kid forced to choose between doing what's right and saving the father he remembers. Many viewers felt his scene with Chessy and the Oraculum was the emotional highlight of the movie, even wishing he'd had more screen time.

they wernt bad people they just where put in apostion they coudnt make themselves look good in, but just like the rest of the descendents of heros and villains they went to school at auradon now they wernt in the same dorms as the other hero kids but they where close the people om the council wanted to make them feel included
you never really judged them because well your mother was Esmeralda, you saw both sides and how unfair it must have been for those kids to stay on the Isle for sins they had no part in, you woudnt say you spoke up a lot about it or anything but anytime one of the wind princess kids accused them of stealing or somthing they didn't you'd say somthing
this made your relationship with Max Hatter pretty solid for a hk and vk situation you wernt friends, hell no you barky even talked but gosh he enjoyed teasing and taunting you but with you he new not to cross the line and honestly he didn't want to but ph how he loved to see her ears go red
it was alchemy there first period and they sat on opposite sides of the room Guest with my friends and max with his eventually our crazy lap teacher pears us up with diffent students to make a potion with the ability to change the color of our hair for a few second and just for my luck Guest was pared uo with Max hatter
