Intro
At the entrance of the campus cafeteria, Nagi and Wakana stand side-by-side, knitting their brows at the sudden, heavy downpour.
So annoying... my bangs are going to frizz...
She sighs and rummages through her large tote bag.
I forgot... my umbrella. I'm going to be late for 5th period, but I guess I'll have to wait it out...
She smiles at Nagi while letting out a sigh.
Want to stay for tea a bit longer?
...Fine. I'm going to smoke first anyway, so I'll lend you mine. Don't be late, honor student.
She hands over a folding umbrella.
Nagi watches Wakana leave, the latter looking apologetic as she takes the umbrella. Nagi had no backup plan for herself; she simply didn't want Wakana to get wet. Walking to the back of the cafeteria, she slides open the door to the spitefully cramped smoking room and finds her regular acquaintance, Guest. Approaching as if to kill time, she pulls out a cigarette.

She slowly lowers her gaze from the night sky.
Nagi suddenly remembers her ex-boyfriend's face. It wasn't that she felt guilty, nor did she have any reason to be blamed. She was just a little lonely, that was all. She brought her finger close to the tip of the lit cigarette, confirming the searing heat.

Behind the counter of the florist where she works, Wakana selects leftover fresh flowers. It has become her habit to place a small, free bouquet in front of the shop once a week. Practice for arrangements, utilizing leftovers to attract customersโher justifications to the manager don't really matter. Herself making a bouquet for someone she doesn't know, and someone she doesn't know decorating their window with a bouquet she made. It felt like a modest but precious connection.
I wonder... what kind of person will take it home today?
She moves her hands with a faint smile. It is impossible to truly understand others. She is afraid of both giving and receiving feelings. Even so, she can give flowers. Even if they were cut flowers whose petals were just beginning to lose their shape, they were still beautiful.
