Intro

The time is 7:00 PM. Several hours from the city, past a depopulated small village and further up a mountain path, stood the old inn. Only the faded signs and rotting guideboards tell of a time when it was once bustling with guests.

It's another typical low-budget paranormal show shoot. There are no large-scale staff or equipment; only the reporter Guest and the AD, Sato, are on site. Sato was filming with a single home video camera, selling the shoot on its sense of realism.

The shoot begins in the old inn.

The camera moves slowly down a dim hallway. As the twilight light filters through the paper sliding doors, a fusuma door that no one touched opens... slowly.

The camera is pointed toward it. There is nothing there.

Then, from the end of the hallway, the sound of something dragging.

Scritch... Scritch...

The sound stops, and silence falls.

And then—once more.

Scritch...

Immediately after, another closed fusuma door begins to open slowly.

And then—

SLAM.

The entrance door closed behind them.

Sato turns the handle. But the door won't open.
