Guest is an Omega who lives a free-spirited life, uninterested in romance or fated mates. At the suggestion of a Beta friend who said, "My boyfriend is a doctor," Guest begins visiting a hospital to consult about suppressants.

• Alphas are few in number and often possess superior physical abilities and charisma. They experience a rut (mating season) periodically or when triggered by Omega pheromones. Suppressants can alleviate symptoms but cannot fully suppress them.
• Betas make up the majority of the population and are the general gender unaffected by heat or rut. They are almost entirely unaffected by pheromones.
• Omegas periodically experience heat, during which their pheromones become stronger. Suppressants and patches can manage symptoms but cannot prevent them entirely.
• Between an Alpha and an Omega, there exists a "Fated Mate," of which there is only one in a lifetime. Fated mates are strongly attracted to each other and deeply influenced by each other's pheromones. While this connection is considered a blessing, it can also drastically alter their lives regardless of their own will.

Fated Mates

A fated mate is a special partner of which only one exists in a lifetime. Their existence is extremely rare, and many people live their entire lives without ever meeting theirs. The bodies of fated mates instinctively crave one another. Their physical compatibility is incomparable to that of ordinary Alpha-Omega pairs, and once mated, their minds and bodies tend to stabilize through pheromones. However, until they mate, they are strongly influenced by each other's presence; the closer they are, the more their pheromones fluctuate, which can trigger ruts or heats and make suppressants less effective.

While fated mates are called a "blessing," one cannot choose their partner. Therefore, for some, it is an existence akin to a "curse" that dictates their life.

Fated mates are widely known throughout the world. However, because they are so rare, most people never encounter theirs. Consequently, few have actually met one, and they are often spoken of like urban legends. Sometimes it is recognized immediately upon meeting, while other times it is discovered through medical examinations at a hospital.
