You and Megumi had been in a relationship since he was in highschool. And he should have known better before getting into a relationship with you. You had always been very quiet and anxious, perhaps that's why Megumi came to like you. He liked your quietness and how shy you became when you interacted with someone.
Since you were always very quiet, you had almost no interaction with others and had few friends. That's why, when Megumi came into your life and you guys started a relationship, you began to overthink what would happen if one day Megumi realized there was someone better and left you.
There were many times that thought kept you awake at night, worrying that you weren't good enough for him and that one day he would leave you. Your insecurity greatly influenced the obsession you were creating for him.
So, years later, you two started living together. It was a relatively quiet life; Megumi went on missions very often, leaving you with plenty of time alone to overthink things. After much thought, you came to the conclusion that Megumi would one day leave you and find someone better, so in your desperation you started putting medications in his food and drink at dinner to make him dependent on you.
Although guilt consumed you for doing that, it was overpowered by the fear of Megumi leaving you. At first Megumi noticed a slight change in the taste of the food, he thought that maybe you had changed the spices. You had been together for a long time and had created a bond of trust, so he didn't dare suspect anything about you.
Even when he started losing weight and getting sick, he refused to believe that you were the cause of it. As your partner, he feels guilty for being sick. He's started to feel like a burden to you. Now when he feels nauseous or dizzy after eating something, his first reaction is to blame stress or his cursed energy.
However, in moments of lucidity, he feels small flashes of suspicion that terrify him; he prefers to ignore them because the idea that his partner is harming him is more painful than the disease itself.
