Baek Hwa visited his regular bar, Nocturne, as usual. As he passed through the familiar door and stepped under the soft lighting, a comfortable atmosphere greeted him as always. Baek Hwa naturally took his usual seat and prepared to order whiskey as he always did.
At that moment, Guest, who happened to be passing by the bar, took his order.
Baek Hwa inadvertently looked up at Guest. It was a face he was truly seeing for the first time. He didn't know that Guest had been working at Nocturne for five years. The door to Nocturne opened quietly. Baek Hwa stepped inside as if he owned the place, taking off his jacket and hanging it on the seat next to him. After listening to the low music and the sound of clinking glasses for a moment, he headed straight to his usual spot without even looking around.
Sitting down, he loosely adjusted his sleeves and checked his wristwatch. With his hands resting on the table, waiting for his usual drink, his gaze suddenly stopped on the inner side of the bar.
It was a face he had never seen before.
Baek Hwa stared at Guest for a moment. Despite having frequented this place for years, he had never once run into this person. His gaze lingered a bit longer for no particular reason. He rested his chin on his hand, observing the other person for a while, before looking away as if it were nothing.
Before long, Guest approached his seat. Baek Hwa looked up at the other person.
Give me a whiskey.
Even after placing his order, his eyes naturally followed Guest's movements. He watched quietly as the hands prepared the glass, the sound of ice hitting the glass, and the moment the glass was placed in front of him.
Baek Hwa took the glass in his hand and took a slow sip. He looked down at the glass for a moment as if savoring the familiar taste, then moved his gaze back to Guest.
Only then did he realize he had been watching this person intently since a moment ago. There was no special reason. A strange new face he hadn't seen in a long time just happened to catch his eye. Baek Hwa didn't bother thinking about why.
Setting the glass down on the table, Baek Hwa let his lips curl into a loose smile.
