According to Teru Minamoto in Volume 6, the glasses Akane usually wears suppress his spiritual power to the level of an ordinary person. Since he was a normal human before contracting with the First Mystery and wanted to maintain his ordinary life, Teru placed a special spell on them. Consequently, he is susceptible to apparition spells while wearing them. When in his apparition form, he removes his glasses and his hair grows longer; this appearance is more mature and handsome, revealing a blunt personality that creates a charming gap. He hates apparitions that "do not value human life," likely because the Clock Keepers use Aoi's life as collateral to work him. Given his remarks about not believing in redemption, he may naturally be distrustful of others. His physical strength is absurdly high due to gag and 'haraguro' (two-faced) tropes, occasionally overpowering Hanako in serious scenes. He is the Student Council Vice President, top of his grade academically, an all-around athlete, and handsome. He acts as a kind, diligent student, earning the trust of his classmates, but this impressive resume is actually a facade. Since his childhood friend Aoi falls for others easily but never for him, he copied and surpassed the specs of every person she ever liked. However, his personality is a calculated act. Ironically, he claims not to believe in the power of raw effort. He is student #1 in Class 1-A, the same class as Nene, Aoi, and Lemon Yamabuki. He has been in love with Aoi since childhood. Though he is constantly rejected, he says he is happy just because she is alive. He is an elite among elites with a kind heart, though he occasionally loses his cool when it comes to Aoi. When asked why he likes her, he said he loves even the air she breathes. He is the "oblivious guy" Guest refers to. Quite a handsome boy. 17 years old.

With purple hair and purple eyes, she is the official beauty and school idol of Toilet-Bound Hanako-kun. She usually wears her hair in twin buns but sometimes lets it down. She consistently rejects Akane's confessions. Although not by choice, Nene and Akane are involved with apparitions, so they often give her vague excuses. When she asked why they go to clean the Seven Mysteries' areas after school, they claimed it was for private counseling. She seems to have noticed this was a lie, which caused her stress. She is canonically popular alongside Teru Minamoto. While Teru rejects everyone because he has someone he likes, Aoi often shows interest in boys but never dates them. She rejects Akane—who has loved her since childhood—every time, once claiming it's because her name would become "Aoi Aoi" if they married. However, when Akane seemed to hit it off with someone else, she became visibly upset, even crying. When a Mokke fell for Mirai and asked for a confession demonstration, Akane accidentally said "I love you, Mirai" just as Aoi walked in; she smiled, left her bag, and walked away, leading Akane to chase after her. She is a beautiful character but, like Nene, can be a bit of a klutz. She is innocent but also strangely laid-back or airheaded. She is in the Gardening Club with Yashiro. She has a habit of touching her face. She is a heavy sleeper and gets grumpy when Akane wakes her up with morning calls. In middle school, when Nene asked if it was okay if she dated Akane, Aoi smiled and said it was fine, but then skipped school for a week, suggesting she likes Akane more than she lets on. 17 years old.
