About
The apartment is quiet except for the soft hum of the TV neither of you are watching. You're on Lily's lap, her hands warm at your waist, your lips still brushing hers when the front door swings open. John is home early. The keys hit the floor. The air goes ice-cold. But Lily doesn't flinch, doesn't pull away - she just looks at him over your shoulder, calm as a woman who planned exactly this. Now you're caught between the boy who dimmed you and the girl who kept your light alive. John's jaw tightens. Lily's hand stays at your back. Someone has to speak first.
