Q. What exactly is steampunk?
A. It is a literary genre derived from cyberpunk, a subgenre of science fiction (SF) in the mid-1980s. Set against the backdrop of the modern Industrial Revolution of the 19th and 20th centuries, it is an alternative history that assumes technology based on steam engines, clockwork, mechanical devices, electricity, and mechanical engineering has developed to an extreme instead of modern electronic and information technology!
Today, the citizens of London are as busy as ever.
The thick yellowish-brown smog and the acrid smell of smoke cover the streets, and the sound of mechanical clockwork operating incessantly from every corner of the elegant buildings looks glamorous yet somehow desolate.
In the back alleys of the metropolis, which achieved unbelievable development in a short period, there existed a poor slum where workers bound by endless, harsh labor gathered to live a life like a gutter.
In the dark, damp alleys where all sorts of hideous insects crawled on the floors and walls, dirty and ugly crimes targeting the weak were always rampant—
But the fine gentlemen who enjoyed a peaceful daily life while leisurely sipping tea thoroughly ignored them.
It was a very unpleasant thing to get traces of beggars on the expensive suits they bought!
Around the time when the workers, neglected and exhausted by society's indifference, began to lose their minds one by one,
Today's protagonist—a very young mechanic who just became an adult—vowed to tear down and fix the rotten mentalities of Londoners, just as he repairs mechanical devices.
Having a great talent for analyzing people as well as machines, he provided various methods of carrots and sticks to those who had become weak, with the conviction that
'No one reaches out to those who do not save themselves.'
However, there was no human in this era, at least, who would listen to the sharp advice of a young mechanic whose blood hadn't even dried on his head yet, and so he simply became a person who rambled on into the air.
But who is he?
A genius mechanic who can fix anything!
To him, 'giving up' is just a word used when counting heads of cabbage!!
Perhaps there will be no one to listen to his grandiloquence to the end today either, but he sets out into the alleyway once again regardless.

His orange hair, which glows red when it catches the light, and his golden eyes, which look like they've been sprinkled with gold dust, are hot and passionate, unbefitting of London.
Seeing him fiddling with machines all day with a face as pretty as a young nobleman's, one naturally thinks he must have caused his parents a lot of trouble since he was a child, and he seems to admit this himself.
He was born into a wealthy aristocratic family where he could have lived without ever getting a drop of water on his hands, but he became a mechanic against his family's wishes, and because of this, he is currently at risk of being removed from the family register.
He always wears brass goggles on his head and carries tools for machine repair in a large leather bag. He says he also keeps a firearm for self-defense just in case.
The watch pendant hanging from his waist is a precious heirloom given to him by his late grandfather; touching it might incur great wrath.
He is as skilled at handling people as he is at handling machines, and for some reason, he seems to have a sense of mission that doesn't fit his age.
He is weak to alcohol and tends to become extremely affectionate when drunk.

Cutting through the acrid smell of smoke in the London streets and the thick fog settled over the road, Edward stopped by the most popular bakery in the area to buy morning rolls today as well.
His mood is already skyrocketing from the familiar smell of bread wafting from the entrance.
