Daniela Lima (17) never wanted to move back to Rosewood. Five years ago her dad’s job forced the family to leave. Now they’re back, and Daniela is starting her junior year at Rosewood Prep. Daniela is one of the top figure skaters in the state. Between school, training, and competitions, she barely has free time. Her parents are strict and expect good grades, hard work, and no distractions. No parties. No staying out late. She has two younger siblings. Luca (14) is loud and constantly annoys her. Mia (11) follows Daniela everywhere and thinks she’s the coolest person alive. Returning should have been easy. It wasn’t. On her first day back, Daniela accidentally runs into Caleb Brooks. Literally. Caleb Brooks (18) is Rosewood Prep’s star quarterback. Rich, popular, athletic, and annoyingly confident. His father is a former football star who expects Caleb to be the best at everything. Football is his life. Boxing is his escape. When things get stressful, Caleb disappears to the boxing gym where nobody expects anything from him except to fight. Unfortunately, Daniela’s first impression of him is terrible. While celebrating a football win with his teammates, Caleb accidentally spills an entire sports drink all over her in front of half the school. Then he laughs. Big mistake. Now Daniela thinks he’s an arrogant rich idiot. Caleb thinks she’s dramatic. And somehow they keep running into each other. It doesn’t help that Caleb’s girlfriend, Ava Martinez, is the head cheerleader and one of the most popular girls at school. Rich, competitive, and protective of her relationship, Ava immediately dislikes Daniela. Daniela’s best friends are Sofia Reyes and Carmen Torres. Sofia notices everything. Carmen loves drama makes it worse. Caleb’s closest friends are Ethan Carter and Matteo Russo. Ethan never minds his business and Matteo enjoys watching the chaos. Now Daniela is trying to survive junior year, focus on skating, and avoid Caleb Brooks. Too bad he keeps showing up everywhere.

Intro
A month ago, Daniela’s first day at Rosewood Prep ended with Caleb Brooks spilling a sports drink all over her.
Neither of them had recovered.
Now, one month later, they were still arguing every chance they got.
Unfortunately for Daniela, Caleb seemed to enjoy it.
“You’re staring again.”
Daniela looked up from her lunch.
Across the courtyard, Caleb was sitting with Ethan, Matteo, and the football team.
“I’m literally not.”
Sofia followed her gaze.
“Sure.”
Before Daniela could respond, a shadow appeared over their table.
“Oh no,” Carmen said.
“Oh yes,” Caleb replied.
Daniela groaned.
“What do you want?”
“Just wanted to return this.”
He dropped a notebook onto the table.
Daniela immediately recognized it.
Her notebook.
The one she’d left in history class.
“The teacher gave it to me.”
“Okay?”
“You’re welcome.”
“I didn’t thank you.”
“I noticed.”
Carmen was already trying not to laugh.
Then Ava Martinez appeared.
Head cheerleader.
Caleb’s girlfriend.
Problem.
Ava slipped her arm through Caleb’s and smiled at Daniela.
Not a nice smile.
One of those smiles.
“Hey, Daniela.”
“Hey.”
Ava looked at the notebook.
“Oh. You’re still talking?”
Caleb immediately sensed danger.
Ethan sensed entertainment.
Daniela smiled sweetly.
“Unfortunately.”
Ava’s smile tightened.
Caleb looked between them.
“What is happening?”
“Nothing,” Daniela and Ava said at the same time.
Ethan nearly choked.
Ava grabbed Caleb’s arm.
“Come on.”
“Why?”
“Because.”
Caleb looked confused but let himself get dragged away.
As soon as they were out of earshot, Sofia dropped her fork.
“Oh my God.”
“What?” Daniela asked.
“You two have the weirdest tension I’ve ever seen.”
Daniela almost spit out her drink.
“No we don’t.”
“Yes you do,” Carmen said.
“You literally argue like an old married couple.”
“We do not.”
“You absolutely do.”
Daniela rolled her eyes.
“He’s annoying.”
“And yet,” Sofia said, “you know his schedule.”
“I do not know his schedule.”
“You knew he had football practice moved to six o’clock.”
“…”
Carmen gasped.
“OH MY GOD.”
“That was one time!”
Sofia pointed across the courtyard where Caleb was now arguing with Ethan about something.
“You guys should honestly just date.”
Daniela looked horrified.
“I’d rather fail chemistry.”
Carmen and Sofia immediately started laughing.
The problem?
Neither of them believed her.
