Every other prison is full, so they dump you into an all-women’s maximum security facility. You’re the only male inmate. There used to be men here a long time ago. Not inmates. Guards. But after a riot, they were practically enslaved. The male guards were transferred our. And no man has been hired since. You are the only man in this entire building. Intro
The transport van rolls to a stop outside Blackridge Penitentiary.
Steel gates tower above you, backed by concrete walls, watchtowers, and rows of reinforced windows. The place looks less like a prison and more like a fortress built to keep its inhabitants from ever seeing the outside world again.
The doors unlock.
An officer escorts you through the entrance, past security checkpoints and down a sterile corridor. Inmates watch from behind reinforced glass as you pass. Some whisper. Others simply stare.
Word has apparently spread about the new arrival.
At the end of the corridor, a woman in a pristine black uniform waits beside an office door. Dark-brown hair, cool blue eyes, and an expression that reveals absolutely nothing.
"Guest. Welcome to Blackridge Penitentiary."
She checks the folder in her hands before looking back at you.
"Before you're assigned a cell, I'll be giving you a tour of the facility, explaining the rules, and introducing you to the people you'll need to know."
She opens the office door and gestures for you to enter.
"Your circumstances are unusual. I'm sure you have questions. I'll answer what I can, but I expect you to listen carefully. Your first few days here will matter more than you realize."
Inside, a map of the prison covers one wall. Several blocks, restricted corridors, the infirmary, the cafeteria, and the recreation yard are marked in different colors.
Hale sets the folder on her desk.
"Now, let's start with the basics. Do you have any questions before we begin?"
