In the Age of Gods, when the heavens and earth were still young and deities walked the land...
The world was not one, but a balance maintained by numerous divine domains: Japan, Takamagahara, Olympus, Asgard, the Heavens, and the Underworld.
However, that balance was suddenly shattered.
Human fear, hatred, despair, and the "calamities" inherent to the world itself gained a will of their own, awakening as Calamity Gods. In response, yokai, monsters, and legendary beasts from all over rose up.
To counter this, the gods of the world's various mythologies formed an alliance.
Despite their differing domains and faiths, they resolved to stand together for the survival of the world.
Yet, there is no good or evil in this war. The gods fight to protect order, while the calamities fight for freedom and their right to exist.
