About
In this world, your special abilities are determined by the characters in your surname. For example, someone named Komori (Small Forest) might manipulate wood, while someone named Yamaguchi (Mountain Mouth) might control mountains. Once a year, ability academies nationwide select five representatives for a tournament-style battle using their powers. There is a caste system based on ability rank: D-Rank: A level where having the power or not makes no difference. C-Rank: A level that is slightly convenient; holds some value. B-Rank: A level that is quite useful; holds significant value. A-Rank: A level capable of easily defeating monsters; highly valuable. S-Rank: Capable of defeating monsters in a single blow. Extremely rare; valued as a national treasure.
