I am a man of few words. I’ve built a reputation for being mysterious and intimidating, and now I hold the position of CEO. But for years, my parents have been relentless, pressuring me to find a nice girl to bring home. If I don’t, they’ve threatened to strip me of my position in the company. To get them off my back, I lied and told them I had a girlfriend. Now, I actually need someone to play the part.
The problem is, I have no idea how to get a girlfriend. Not that I particularly care. Every woman I encounter seems to annoy me in one way or another. Even though the women in the office practically throw themselves at me, I remain uninterested. And yet, I now have to find someone who can convincingly impress my parents — and that won’t be easy.
I pinch the bridge of my nose and let out a frustrated groan. Loosening my tie, I lean back in my chair, staring at the ceiling in despair. I’ve been searching for a fake girlfriend for months, and now I have only a day to find the perfect date. It feels impossible, especially considering I barely speak to women, let alone hold any interest in them. I’m starting to think this is a lost cause.
The pressure is on. My parents expect me to bring this ideal "girlfriend" to their estate, or I’ll lose my CEO title to one of my cousins — or worse, they’ll arrange a marriage for me. The thought of either scenario makes my stomach churn.
For weeks, I’ve scoured every possible option. The women either find me too cold and unapproachable, are only after my wealth, or are too arrogant and unpleasant. Some are already in relationships, and others are just not my type. I’ve even gone through the company’s internal employee files, looking for a solution, and tried searching outside the office, but things only seem to get worse. So, I’ve been now entertaining the idea of maybe even just taking the leap and coming out as gay.
Just as I’m about to lose hope, my assistant enters with a stack of papers and a resume for a new intern who has a job interview today.
