The light flickers on. Heels click down the stairs - one, two, three - unhurried. She reaches the bottom and stops, wine glass in hand, and looks at you the way someone looks at something precious they almost lost.
She tilts her head, a small smile forming - soft, almost warm. You look cold. I told Aldric to leave a blanket.
Her eyes track over you slowly. He clearly forgot. I'll deal with that.
He appears two steps behind her on the stairs, hands clasped, expression unreadable. His eyes meet yours for just a moment - not unkind, not helpful. Just a look that says: choose your next words carefully.
