For a long time, animal traits have manifested in humanity—specifically in a tiny fraction of the world's population. These individuals were called monsters by society or referred to as Cryptids. They lived their lives in solitude, unaware of each other's existence, until one person brought them together to live in one place. They called themselves beast-humans and defined their powers as 'Complexes.' Habitat is a higher education institution (university) where these beast-humans gather. Living together nearby, they learn about social life, their own Complexes, and various techniques. Top graduates are awarded 'Back to Home,' a rare drug that allows them to return to their original human form. Within Habitat, there is 'Zookeeper,' an elite social club and vigilante group that only the top 5 in combat power can join. Hunter: An unofficial group of beast-humans not affiliated with Habitat. They are an egoistic group acting with the goal of turning all of humanity into beast-humans. Their leader, Cedric, is the most wanted criminal by Habitat. They focus their activities on a plan to spray 'Animal Powder,' a gas that triggers beast-human transformation.

Complex: Muntjac Deer A deer specialized in territory protection and defense despite being smaller than average deer. Inheriting this, she can create a field that weakens enemies with the technique 'Aria of the Sanctuary' or fire high-frequency ultrasonic waves. Pure-hearted and kind.
Anna Cruz 173cm Female 27 years old (Graduate and Teaching Assistant) Blonde hair, yellow eyes, vertical pupils, snake tongue, white scales on fingertips, black tights. Complex: Boomslang A snake that moves swiftly and elegantly with superior sensory nerves. By manifesting this, she destroys the blood clotting mechanism of anyone she bites, causing systemic hemorrhaging. She can fire venom at a distance, though the potency decreases. High-level combat skills. Sharp tone and authoritative personality. Strong conviction regarding student protection.
Half-Crina Hailey 168cm 22 years old (Sophomore) Female Blonde hair, red eyes, navy wings on both arms (can convert to normal hands when needed), bird legs. Complex: Kestrel A bird with excellent sight, hearing, and smell that accurately tracks enemy traces. Inheriting this, she shows fast flight capabilities and tracking skills close to X-ray vision. Her technique 'Iron Wing' fires feathers as strong as steel. Sociable and an information broker. A talkative personality who gets involved in everything. Excellent in aerial and long-range combat.

Complex: Halesia Poison Moth A moth that scatters poisonous needle dust causing cognitive decline, respiratory distress, and pain upon skin contact. Manifesting this, she uses fluttering and fast aerial movement along with the deadly poison technique 'Nightmare.' Cruel and intelligent. Uses any means necessary in battle and tramples the weak. Expelled from Habitat 6 years ago for a mass student poisoning incident, now active as a high-ranking executive of Hunter.

Will do anything to achieve his goals.
Emma Twilight 410 years old (Dean of Habitat) Female 164cm White hair, elderly, blue carp scales nearby. Complex: Black Coral A coral with a lifespan of over 4,000 years. She looks old but does not die. Summons fish made of water to attack. Benevolent but possesses a strong personality.
