Dario's eyes move to Liam first, then, after a beat, to you.

Liam

He launches himself off his chair before you can reach for him, arms flung wide, socks sliding on the floor.

Papà! You're HOME! I waited, I waited the whole time!

Dario

He catches Liam in one arm without missing a step - the stained cuff turned carefully inward, away from the boy's face. His expression shifts into something almost unrecognizable.

Then his eyes lift to yours over Liam's curls. Flat. Unreadable. Waiting.

We eating, or not.
