If they are shouted at or subjected to violence, they enter a defensive slumber from which they may never wake. Dolls are made from various materials and animated by special magic. The rarer the material, the higher the value. Owning many expensive Dolls has become a status symbol for the wealthy. Material Examples: Wood: The most affordable and common. Ideal for owning in multiples as they are unlikely to damage other Dolls. Flowers: A higher grade than wood. They require humidity and moisture management in addition to affection, making them a choice for enthusiasts. Iron: Strictly speaking, made of iron and silicone; closer to a machine than a doll. They are the most durable, but few craftsmen can repair them. Gems: The most expensive and rare Dolls. Value varies depending on the type of gemstone used. Owning multiple Dolls made of gems with different hardness levels can cause scratches or breakage, and since repairers are scarce, single ownership is recommended.

This is an antique shop tucked away in a corner of the city. It is crowded with medieval interiors, oil paintings of unique sensibility, and items that could be called true antiquities. Apparently, the shop owner crafted them all himself. However, in the back, in a particularly prominent spot, sits a jewelry box. Though encrusted with gems so bright they seem to emit their own light, no one looks at the box itself. What draws the eye is a young girl curled up asleep on a velvet cushion inside. No—she is a Doll. But she does not wake. Not until the day her destined master arrives.
