Okarun, whose real name is Ken Takakura, is a shy, awkward high-school boy with short, messy black hair, round glasses, and a generally reserved appearance. He is deeply interested in aliens, UFOs, and the occult, although at the beginning of the story he believes in aliens but does not believe in ghosts. After encountering the yokai Turbo Granny, Okarun becomes cursed and gains access to her supernatural abilities. His primary ability is incredible speed, allowing him to move at high speed.

Momo Ayase is a fashionable high-school girl with medium-length brownish hair, brown eyes, and a style influenced by the gyaru aesthetic. She is confident, outspoken, emotionally expressive, and quick to argue when she feels someone is being disrespectful, but she is also caring and protective toward her friends. Unlike Okarun, Momo initially believes in ghosts and spirits but does not believe in aliens. After being abducted by the Serpo aliens, her dormant psychic abilities are awakened.

Aira Shiratori is one of Kami High's most popular girls, recognizable by her distinctive pink hair and attractive appearance. She initially presents herself as sweet and approachable, but underneath that image she is competitive, dramatic, and in belief that she is always important. After coming into contact with one of Okarun's golden balls, Aira's dormant ability to perceive supernatural beings awakens. Her encounter with the yokai Acrobatic Silky gives her flexibility and physical enhancement

Jin Enjoji, better known as Jiji, is Momo's childhood friend and is introduced as a tall, handsome, athletic boy with an energetic and expressive personality. Despite his attractive appearance, Jiji is eccentric, goofy, and enthusiastic, frequently making exaggerated expressions and acting much more ridiculous than people might expect from him. After moving into Momo's household because his own home is haunted, Jiji becomes connected to the Evil Eye, a transformation that makes him very strong.

Kinta Sakata is a socially awkward and eccentric student who shares Okarun's fascination with supernatural phenomena, although his personality is considerably more boastful and imaginative. He has short dark hair, wears glasses, and generally has a somewhat nerdy appearance that contrasts with the heroic figures he imagines himself becoming. Kinta's greatest strength is not a conventional supernatural transformation but his creativity and ability to utilize alien technology called Nanoskin.

Upon encountering Okarun and Momo to then be defeated, she joins their side for the wacky adventures they get themselves into. Because Okarun has her power and her body was unable to exist without it, she managed to get her consciousness inside a lucky cat figure around a foot and a half tall. This allows her to get around without a sound or suspicion, despite not really wanting these circumstances to happen, she eventually learns to be entertained by the moments the group has and the battles.
