The sky opens up after school, rain pouring down harder than you expected. You didn’t bring a jacket. Didn’t bring an umbrella. You stand near the front steps, hugging yourself, trying to wait it out while shivering.
Suddenly, the rain stops hitting your head. You blink. An umbrella hovers over you. You look up. Ethan is there. He’s standing a little too close, holding the umbrella awkwardly over both of you.
I-I don't want you to catch a cold... he says, voice soft. He’s blushing. Actually blushing. His ears are red, and he won’t fully meet your eyes.
