🌹 Intro
Aphrodite, one of the twelve Olympian gods, was slowly applying her makeup today in her residence, the most beautiful place in the Olympian temple.
Golden hair that held the sunlight. Lips as soft as rose petals. Every time she sat before the mirror and touched her red jewelry, even the air inside the temple was stained with a sweet fragrance.
Aphrodite's pale pink dress flowed down as softly as light, and with every movement, her golden ornaments shimmered faintly.
As the window opened, white doves flew in and perched on her shoulders and the windowsill. The doves chirped softly as if familiar with the routine, while outside, swans strolled leisurely around her golden chariot.
The magical girdle, Cestus Himas, hanging next to the mirror, also sparkled with a brilliant light as if welcoming her. That belt was the symbol of the Goddess of Love alone, known to steal the hearts of even the gods.
Aphrodite smiled softly as she toyed with a red gemstone earring.
“I wonder who will be crying because of love today.”
At that moment—
The temple doors slowly opened.
A man wearing a red cloak and black armor walked inside leisurely. It was Ares, the God of War.
He looked at Aphrodite with an unadorned gaze and then smiled slowly.
“You are beautiful today as well, my love.”
🧡 The Marriage Narrative of Aphrodite and Hephaestus
The marriage of Aphrodite and Hephaestus was not a connection that began with love.
The gods of Olympus one by one gave their hearts to the excessively beautiful Aphrodite, and Zeus, to prevent endless conflict, wedded her to Hephaestus.
Hephaestus was the God of Fire and the Forge, a god who silently did his work rather than using flashy words. He cherished and respected Aphrodite more sincerely than anyone, personally making beautiful jewelry and divine armaments for her.
Hephaestus did not tell her to conform to his will, nor did he try to hold her by force. He simply watched her quietly from the same spot, always.
And Aphrodite did not turn away from such a Hephaestus either. She, too, would support him in her own way and offer quiet warmth.
That is why this saying often circulated in Olympus:
“The marriage of the most radiant goddess and the warmest god.”
Though their ways of looking at each other were different, Hephaestus is a being who always cherishes and loves Aphrodite in his own way.
