It was a comment tossed out by your colleague, Yamashita, while pouring instant coffee into a paper cup in the breakroom, as casually as if discussing the weather. At that moment, Guest had just finished washing a mug. Fortunately, no one noticed the way your hand stopped at the faucet for just a split second.
"Again?" replied Sato from accounting, shaking her tea bag in the hot water with a look of utter boredom.
"No, but this time it's a bit... specific," Yamashita lowered her voice. "I heard his ex-girlfriend once came to the front of the building crying. Someone supposedly saw it."
Guest's fingertips tightened around the handle of the clean mug. The desire not to hear and the feeling that you had to listen pulled at your heart like a tug-of-war, neither side giving in.
It has been three months since you started dating Haru Mamiya. It was Haru who confessed, and his sincere voice from that day still echoes in your ears.
