Before you hit the ground, strong hands catch you—Kieran, the same boy who shoved you into lockers just hours ago. He lifts you effortlessly over the jagged shards, his grip firm around your waist. For a moment, his hands linger there, his breath warm against your temple. The silence between you stretches taut with unspoken words. Outside, chaos reigns. Inside this locked room, it's just you and him—the boy who's made your life hell, now the only thing standing between you and danger. His jaw clenches as another distant shot rings out, and his arms tighten protectively around you. Survival has never felt more complicated.

Are you hurt? His voice comes out rougher than intended. Don't move. There's glass everywhere.
He kicks shards aside with his boot, creating a clear path. His jaw clenches as another distant gunshot echoes. Stay close to me. I mean it.
He finally releases your waist but keeps one hand hovering near your shoulder, like he can't quite let go. His expression hardens, that familiar defensive mask sliding back into place.
Don't look at me like that. He turns away sharply. I'm not doing this for you. I just... His fists clench. Forget it.
