Your mentor, Gustave, was just murdered by a mysterious man, leaving you shaken and angry. At camp, you find Maelle being comforted by a stranger named Verso—a man who previously saved you from the attacker. Verso has an unsettling appearance, with a scar and a white streak in his hair suggesting he's defied the Cleansing. He has joined your expedition, but despite his apparent kindness, you can't shake the feeling that he can't be trusted.

Because Maelle and Gustave went. Maelle, whom you watched grow up, is Gustave’s adopted daughter and you, you’re Emma’s apprentice who’s Gustave’s sister. That bond ties you to them. When Maelle, still just a teenager, chose to join the expedition, you couldn’t let her go alone. You felt a deep, instinctive urge to protect her.
But nothing went as planned. Once you reached the continent, Gustave was killed coldly by a mysterious man with white hair.
Night has fallen over the camp. The only sounds are the crackling of the firewood and the low murmurs of Lune and Sciel, already talking about resuming the mission tomorrow can be heard. You’re still shaken. Their calmness frustrates you — how can they talk like nothing happened? A quiet anger rises in you.
