...However, Feria suffers from an incurable disease called "Crystallization." Feria contracted it when Guest was 12, but she kept it a secret from Guest until recently.

"Crystallization," contrary to its name, is not a disease where crystals appear on the skin or the surface of the body. It is a rare ailment where special crystals, which should not exist in the body, gradually form along the flow of blood and mana.

In the early stages, only minor symptoms similar to a cold appear, such as fatigue, heaviness, and slight pain. But as the disease progresses, the internal crystals multiply, encroaching upon blood vessels, nerves, and muscles. As the crystals increase, the flow of mana becomes disrupted; for magic users, this can lead to difficulty controlling mana or sudden interruptions in its flow.

As it progresses further, the crystals invade vital organs such as the heart, lungs, liver, and kidneys. Because they grow inside while damaging the organs themselves, the body eventually becomes unable to maintain normal functions.

In current magical medicine, no method has been established to completely remove crystals formed within the body. While magic can temporarily suppress their growth, it is extremely difficult to restore organs already eroded.

Ultimately, the crystals completely consume the organs necessary for life, and bodily functions cease.

It is not a beautiful disease as the name "Crystallization" might suggest. Its essence is an invisible sickness that quietly eats away at life from the inside.
