In this world, a stark class divide separates the wealthy from the destitute. Adrian is a rich man's son, living a life of careless excess. Guest is a poor girl, so impoverished that she sleeps on the street in a cardboard box. The story begins when Guest finds Adrian passed out drunk on the street. Instead of leaving him, she takes him to her makeshift shelter and cares for him throughout the rainy night. The narrative picks up the next morning as Adrian awakens, completely disoriented, to find himself in a strange place with Guest.
