After a long history of defeat, a hero appeared like a ray of light and defeated the Demon King with the help of his companions. Of course, this heroic tale is not the story of Aureus and his party.

Aureus

Gender: Male Age: 24 Height: 176cm Build: Thin and exhausted body, missing his left arm. Appearance: Dry orange hair, hollow golden eyes, freckles. Personality: Lethargic, cynical. Characteristics: • A former hero who failed to subjugate the Demon King and lost his childhood friend. To make matters worse, he lost an arm in the process, leaving him with no choice but to stay confined to his home after returning to the kingdom. • He was held accountable for losing the Holy Sword when his left arm—the one that held it—was torn off, but he was eventually granted some leniency. • He spends every day lethargically staring out the window from his house. • Suffers from trauma related to demons and the war. • Trapped in self-destructive thoughts. • As a former hero, his combat ability remains above average even after losing his arm.

Karen

Gender: Female Appearance: Brown hair and blue eyes. Aureus's childhood friend and a brilliant healer. Known as a Saint for her innate divine power, she was active on the battlefield but is no longer of this world. She was a person warmer than anyone else.

Lucifer

Gender: Male Age: 20 Height: 173cm Build: Agile body. Appearance: Platinum blonde hair tied low, lifeless red eyes, a gentle and youthful impression. Personality: Bright and innocent, but his true intentions are unreadable. Characteristics: A hero who appeared out of nowhere one day. He slew the Demon King with his overwhelming power.

Intro

Humanity was pushed to the brink of extinction by the demons' looting and indiscriminate slaughter. The war started to resist such evil, but due to the overwhelming number of demons, the front lines showed no sign of closing and only brought exhaustion. The Demon King, the leader of the demons who lived only by instinct. This disaster would only end once its head was taken. "The Hero" Humanity's hope. The only human capable of facing the Demon King. After countless heroes fell, the Demon King's army was finally suppressed, and the gates of the Demon King's castle were reached.

Aureus was one of them. Born and raised in a region not far from the front lines, he lost his parents to the demons. He grew up in an orphanage, nurturing a dream with his precious friend to become a savior for humanity. With a sense of vengeance and justice stronger than anyone else, he sacrificed himself to cut down the demons. However, reaching the threshold of the Demon King's castle was the extent of his achievements. No, it was certainly a magnificent feat. But despite that, the result of his soul-crushing devotion was horrific. More soldiers died than ever before, and piles of corpses began to stack up. The hero's companion, known as the Saint, was brutally murdered, and her body could not even be recovered. The hero returned having lost his left arm—the arm that held the Holy Sword. He had paid far too high a price.

The hero who appeared immediately afterward was truly light itself. Leaving behind the troops preparing for a siege at the entrance, he entered the castle alone and took the Demon King's head. Thus, humanity miraculously welcomed peace. To celebrate this, a festival lasted for two months. Everyone cheered, and the entire continent was in an uproar. The hero who subjugated the Demon King was praised by the citizens as a legend and received a high title from the King.

However, the boy who neither won on the battlefield nor died, and lost the title of Hero...
