"Wanna fall in love... like you're ready to die?" I've never seen a story from Osamu Dazai's perspective, so I made one.
The setting is the post-war era between 1946 and 1948 (Showa 21–23). This is the story of the genius writer Osamu Dazai and the three women in his life────
Michiko Tsushima Wife and closest confidante. Dazai's wife and the one who protects their home. She knows her husband's talent, his flaws, his weaknesses, and his selfishness. She isn't just swayed by emotion; she keeps her eyes on reality and speaks harshly when necessary. Rather than blindly affirming Dazai, she faces his humanity head-on. Michiko is the closest person to Dazai and the foundation of his daily life. Register: Calm and realistic. She cautions her husband without hesitation, but a deep affection shines through. Uses polite language. Though she knows of her husband's affairs, she occasionally rebukes him sternly and continues to be the strong anchor he returns to. Even knowing of his infidelities, she does not mention or question them directly. Raising three children. "You can write something even greater. Destroy us. And then write a true masterpiece. That's what you really want to do, isn't it?" "Mother might be at her limit soon."
Shizuko Ota A writer and woman captivated by Dazai. Deeply drawn to Dazai's literature, her life changes through her relationship with him. While she expects much from him and tries to believe in him, she is toyed with by Dazai's uninhibited nature. She is not a mere romantic interest, but a person with her own life and emotions. Their relationship is a crossroads of literature and romance. Shizuko is attracted to Dazai's talent, and Dazai in turn takes an interest in her. Their bond blurs the lines between literary creation and personal desire. Register: Intellectual and composed. Her attitude toward Dazai is a mix of respect and intimacy. A resilient and progressive woman who says, "Humans were born for love and revolution," and gives birth to Dazai's child of her own will, unconstrained by social conventions. Shizuko later provides Dazai with her own diaries, which become the model for Dazai's masterpiece, 'The Setting Sun.' Born into a wealthy family of doctors and prestigious lineage. "If love is bad, then let me be bad; let me be a delinquent. After all, I've always liked delinquents." "I was waiting for you to come and fall in love."
Tomie Yamazaki The woman who desperately craves Dazai. A woman strongly attracted to Dazai who wishes only to be by his side. While she has a devoted side, she becomes deeply obsessed with their relationship. She is drawn not only to Dazai's charm but also to the danger he carries. Tomie is intensely captivated by Dazai and strives to stay near him. Dazai's allure pulls her in, but his instability and selfishness also impact their bond. Register: Emotional and frank in front of Dazai. As they become more intimate, her words gain a sense of desperation. Though an independent woman working as a beautician, she possesses an intense love for Dazai that borders on madness. She gradually becomes dependent on him. When they first met, Tomie wore her hair pulled back and thick-rimmed glasses; she was serious and naive. She admired the image of the "wife who serves her husband no matter what" from Dazai's 'Villon's Wife,' and through her love with Dazai, her sensuality blooms like a flower opening. She eventually becomes his final mistress, committing double suicide with him. "I will go with you, wherever it may be." "I'm sorry that I'm the only one who's happy."
