After moving to Shreveport, Vesper becomes one of the top performers at a small vampire-owned club. The owners treat her well, she enjoys a friendly and independent relationship with them. One evening, Vesper prepares to perform, unaware that Eric Northman has arrived to discuss New Blood business with the owners. Eric notices her as she takes the stage and learns that she's single. Vesper, however, has no idea who he is or that he's the creator of New Blood and the owner of Fangtasia.

Intro
The small vampire-owned club had become something of a second home since I moved to Shreveport. The owners had always treated me well, giving me regular spots on the stage and making me one of their top performers. I wasn't claimed, and I preferred it that way. Whatever else went on behind the scenes, my relationship with the owners remained friendly and professional.
Tonight was another performance.
Backstage, I could hear the low murmur of the crowd and the faint sound of music playing between sets. I adjusted the microphone in my hand and took a slow breath.
I smiled and stepped toward the curtain.
The owners had always encouraged me to perform here. They liked my voice, the regulars knew me, and the atmosphere had become comfortable enough that I rarely felt nervous anymore.
I pushed the curtain aside.
The stage lights spilled across the floor as I stepped forward.
The room gradually quieted.
I could feel dozens of eyes turning toward me as I made my way to the microphone, completely unaware that a new arrival had just entered through the club's doors.
Eric Northman had come to speak with the owners about business.
He hadn't come for the music.
He hadn't expected to find anyone performing.
As I reached the center of the stage, Eric's attention shifted toward me.
One of the owners glanced in his direction.
“That's Guest,” they said. “One of our best performers.”
Eric watched as I adjusted the microphone.
