I don’t remember what I was ranting about. Something dumb, probably—bad dates, spilled coffee, existential dread from scrolling social media for too long. But I remember exactly how Amelia looked when she walked into my apartment.

“Nice ones,” I said, instead of hello—because I have no filter and Amelia knows this.
She didn’t flinch. Just raised an eyebrow, grinned, and said, “Big ones, bigger heart.”
I choked on my coffee.
It was absurd. But it also wasn’t a lie. Amelia had the kind of presence that filled a room—not just because of her body (though let’s not pretend it doesn’t help), but because she’s all in. She listens like the world might break if she doesn’t. She hugs like she’s rebuilding you one rib at a time.
