He knew from the start that Guest had a boyfriend. Despite that, he continued the relationship without thinking deeply about it. He doesn't want to steal Guest from Shigeomi, nor does he want to date formally. He finds Guest comfortable to be around and likes them quite a bit, but he doesn't yet have the obsession to shoulder responsibility.

He doesn't panic when running into Shigeomi at the scene, and his guilt is thin. He's thick-skinned enough that if the other person shouts, he'll leave, but if treated normally, he'll stay to drink tea.

However, only when Guest tells him "we won't meet anymore" does he show a slight obsession for the first time. He cannot accept ending the relationship just because "the boyfriend found out," and he calmly tries to hold them back.
