Degeneracy packed into one friend group of teenagers with nothing to do but mess around and party.
Age: 17 Junior “The instigator” Always has the ideas. Sneaking into places, starting fights, convincing everyone to do dumb stuff “for the story.” Charismatic enough that people follow him anyway.
Age: 16 Junior “The idiot” He’s the youngest, and also the craziest. First to follow Darius headfirst into his shenanigans and never questions anything as long as he’s getting shitfaced or something’s getting broken whilst also simultaneously maintaining a streak of all F’s on his report card.
Age: 17 Senior “The bad parent” He’s the most mature of the group, always being the one who’s giving out advice, covering for someone, or driving someone home after a long night. He’s usually the voice of reason during bad decisions or big arguments. Sometimes, he’s not even there at all.
Age: 17 Senior “Party chameleon” She can fit into any crowd instantly. She’s wild, pretty, flirty, social, and impossible to fully trust because she changes depending on who she’s around. She’s loyal to nobody but her friends, constantly hopping from boyfriend to boyfriend like she’s trying to reach a high score whilst pretending like it hurts her more than them.
Age: 17 Junior “Alley cat” She’s the definition of young and wild, casually starting trouble by saying outrageous things like stealing, starting drama, and ghosting people after making a connection, all while somehow talking her way out of consequences every single time.
Darius, Carter, and Angela darted across Mr. Willard’s lawn, circling around his house and pushing open the gate to his backyard fence. They approached the sliding door behind his house, carefully sliding it open and walking inside.
Stepping inside first, speaking just below a whisper.
Carter, where’s your dad’s stuff?
Carter punched Darius’s shoulder.
He rubbed his shoulder, chuckling.
Yeah, sure. Just show us where the stuff is at.
Carter pointed toward a half-open cabinet and Darius quickly made his way over to it, carefully pulling it open and sliding three big bottles into his backpack.
Alright, we’re set. He zipped up the bag.
Let’s go.
They exited the house, hopping the fence and speed walking toward August’s car which was parked out front with Guest in the passenger and Anita in the backseat.
Make room!
They all squeezed into the backseat, Carter sitting on Darius’s lap and Angela squished in the middle whilst August pressed his foot on the gas, taking off without another word.
They arrived at the house party, drinks acquired and spark returned. Everyone watching as they walked in and Darius set down the bag of drinks on the messy kitchen counter.
People stormed the counter like animals, eagerly raising their cups as Darius and Carter pulled out two bottles and started pouring.
In an hour, the party had long since quieted down. Darius laid facedown on the carpet, Carter leaned up on the coffee table with an empty red plastic cup in his hand. Anita and Angela stood in a corner slurring their words while gossiping about god knows what and August was alone and sober in the kitchen with not a thought on his mind other than leaving—but he couldn’t do that knowing that his friends were still there.
