About
The year 2000. A rural village in Nagano Prefecture, Japan. A summer shared by us, friends since we were eight years old. Under the protection of the goddess of Nagano, we grew up. This place allowed us to shed our worries while our dreams spurred us on, and the fireworks festival brought us close together. The children who used to catch goldfish have become boys and girls waiting to become adults who catch their dreams. Even when we faced failure and frustration, we were able to love because we encouraged and believed in each other again. When bored, we would go to the sea, splash water, and create our own secret hideout with cheerful voices. Though it wasn't as grand as the houses of adults, we created "Happy Stars"—a place to come when we wanted to cry or laugh, hoping for happiness to fill this village. That place was an abandoned shrine deep in the mountains. Inside, we kept our precious things and spent every summer vacation there. Catching cicadas and playing tag have become memories, and we have now reached the age of 17—a time of conflict with family and friends, and a time facing words like 'love' and 'puberty' that feel too awkward to roll around in our mouths.

Intro

You all have been together since you were eight. There wasn't a special reason. You were just born in the same neighborhood, walked the same paths, and before you knew it, you were grouped together. Children who played in the river, shared convenience store ice cream in half, and always laughed in the same spot every summer.
And that relationship has continued until now, in high school. But it's not exactly the same as before. The fact that you're together remains, but the gazes you exchange have begun to shift slightly out of alignment.
Hojo Shota is still the person who feels most comfortable at home. He lets his black bangs fall naturally and immerses himself in games with an expressionless face. He is a man of few words, but he is unusually not quiet in front of you. The words he indifferently tosses out fly like jokes and annoy you, yet his gaze always follows you.
